The Outcome
The Sri Lanka Sub-Aqua Club conducted its first ocean conservation program at M/Kamburugamuwa Maha Vidyalaya last month, using the Guardians of the Ocean initiative to educate and inspire young minds about marine conservation.
The children embarked on an exciting journey, learning the basics of scuba diving and discovering fascinating facts about dolphins, whale sharks, sea turtles, and manta rays. Through interactive discussions, they explored the many ways they can become ocean guardians and help protect marine life and their underwater habitats.
The session also included arts and crafts activities, allowing the students to express their creativity while reinforcing key conservation themes. To wrap up the day, they enjoyed a screening of Sea of Sri Lanka while sharing snacks.
A special addition to the program was the generous sponsorship from Olu, providing reusable glass bottles to promote sustainable habits among the students. This initiative reflects Sri Lanka Sub-Aqua Club’s ongoing commitment to marine conservation and education, using the Guardians of the Ocean program to engage and empower the next generation of environmental stewards.
