Tellippalai Project
13.01.2022
The Outcome
The Guardians of the Ocean project conducted an educational initiative in Tellippalai, Jaffna, where over 40 children participated in hands-on learning activities about marine life and its role in ocean ecosystems. The session introduced key concepts about sea creatures and their importance, encouraging children to think critically about ocean conservation.
As part of the activities, the children used natural materials such as dried Palmyra leaves to create depictions of sea turtles, integrating creativity with environmental awareness. The project highlighted the importance of connecting education with local resources and culture to make conservation efforts more relatable and impactful.
This project was made possible through the support of the Sarvodaya Jaffna team and our team of facilitators who led the sessions. Their contributions played a vital role in ensuring the success of the initiative, strengthening Guardians of the Ocean’s commitment to educating coastal communities and inspiring future conservation efforts.
